Our experience in numbers
FinLab Services
The scope of engagement is tailored to the current situation, priorities, and capacity of the internal team. We work alongside owners, management, or the existing finance team, and engagements can be conducted in Croatian or English.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Forward liquidity visibility — early enough to act.
We build a clear short- and medium-term view of liquidity: inflows, outflows, collections, payables, inventory, and every other lever of working capital. Where it adds value, we introduce a 13-week cash flow forecast so that liquidity pressure is identified early, with time to respond.
Examples of support:
cash flow plan
13-week cash flow forecast
collections and receivables monitoring
payables review
inventory analysis
working capital analysis
Management Reporting & KPIs
Reporting built around decisions, not data.
We design management reporting that connects results, cash flow, variances, trends, and the KPIs that matter in one coherent view. Management and owners gain an immediate read on current performance, period-over-period movements, and the areas that warrant attention.
Examples of support:
monthly management report
executive summary
KPI dashboard
variance analysis
commentary on results and key developments
Budgeting, Forecasting & Scenario Planning
A budget grounded in operational reality — and kept current throughout the year.
We anchor the budget in operational plans and clear ownership, then maintain a regularly updated forecast as expectations change through the year. Scenario and sensitivity analysis show how changes in key assumptions flow through to earnings, cash, and funding needs.
Examples of support:
annual budget
rolling forecast
multi-year plan
“what-if” scenarios
headcount and personnel cost planning
capital expenditure plan
Profitability, Margins & Variance Analysis
Clear visibility into where profit is generated — and where margin is lost.
We pinpoint where results are generated and how margins, costs, and variances behave by product, customer, project, or segment — and translate that into what it means for pricing, cost structure, priorities, and the decisions ahead.
Examples of support:
profitability analysis
margin analysis
budget-to-actual variance analysis
key cost driver analysis
financial analysis to support business decisions
investment return analysis
Fractional CFO / Senior Finance Support
Senior finance expertise, without a full-time CFO on the payroll.
We work alongside owners, management, or the existing finance team as an external finance partner — covering financial management and planning, analysis for the management board, preparation of key decisions, financial modeling, and, where needed, interim leadership or reinforcement of the controlling / FP&A function.
Examples of support:
support to owners and management
financial analysis for strategic and operational decisions
financial models and scenarios
interim leadership of controlling / FP&A
reporting and process development
mentoring of the finance team
Financing & Bank-Ready Documentation
A bankable financial case, built on defensible assumptions.
We prepare the projections, financial models, business plans, cash flow forecasts, and supporting materials that financing discussions demand. Where needed, we model scenarios and test debt service capacity, so the request stands on realistic assumptions and makes the business case clearly.
Examples of support:
business plan
financial model
cash flow projection
financing scenarios
debt service capacity analysis
financial documentation for the bank
Examples of Deliverables
Actual client dashboards, KPI scorecards, executive summaries, cash flow models, and 13-week forecasts remain proprietary and confidential.
Management dashboard and a clear KPI scorecard
Executive summary with key insights and signals
Monthly P&L with variance commentary
Decision-Ready Analysis
Every deliverable is built to be clear, actionable, and easy to use month after month.
Cash flow overview and, where needed, a 13-week forecast
Profitability / working capital analysis
Recommendations, priorities, and an action plan
FinLab Training
Our workshops are designed for owners, boards, managers, and non-finance teams seeking a firmer command of the financial logic behind everyday business decisions. Each program is built on practical cases and calibrated to the industry, the participants' financial background, and the operating realities of the business.
Finance for Non-Finance Managers
Reading the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement as a single picture — and linking revenue, costs, margin, working capital, and cash to the decisions managers take every day. The objective is to interpret the numbers with confidence, free of accounting jargon.
Budgeting & Forecasting in Practice
From key assumptions to a credible budget and forecast: structuring the planning process, assigning ownership, monitoring variances, and revising expectations in time to steer the business.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Why profit and cash diverge, where working capital absorbs liquidity, and how to establish a forward view of cash that supports funding and investment decisions well in advance.
Management Reporting & KPIs
Which information management genuinely requires, how to select KPIs that reflect performance drivers, and how to structure the dashboard, executive summary, and commentary so that material movements are immediately apparent.
Margins, Costs & Profitability
A disciplined view of the drivers of profitability. We work through margin structure, cost behavior, and break-even, then isolate where value is created and where it is diluted — by product, customer, project, or segment.
Excel for Financial Planning & Reporting
Practical architecture for financial models, plans, and reports in Excel — designed to be transparent, structurally sound, and sustainable through every reporting cycle.

Marina Sliško Uzel
For more than 25 years, I have held finance, controlling, and business partnering roles in Croatia and within international organizations. My academic background is in Accounting and Finance, with a degree from RRiF University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb.
That work has spanned a broad spectrum of industries and business models — from agriculture and banking to flexible packaging, high-growth FMCG, and startup environments. This exposure has provided a comprehensive perspective on the underlying economics of each business, the drivers of financial performance, and the areas in which finance delivers the greatest value.
My first international experience was with Carnival Cruise Lines, where I spent two years working on board, including one year in accounting as a Junior Revenue Accountant. It was my first exposure to a large international corporate environment, working in English and within clearly defined global processes and standards.
Following my return to Croatia, I joined KWS, a global seed company, where I spent nearly 14 years in roles across Croatia, Austria and Germany, including Vienna and Berlin.
I joined the Croatian subsidiary at an early stage and was closely involved in building its finance, controlling, and back-office functions from the ground up, working in close partnership with management and commercial teams as the business itself developed.
That experience shaped an approach that has remained fundamental throughout my career: finance is at its strongest when it is built on a genuine understanding of the business and translates that understanding into relevant insight, financial discipline, and better decision-making.
I subsequently spent almost a decade in Vienna in senior finance and controlling roles within international and matrix organizations, spanning banking, flexible packaging, and FMCG/startup environments. Working across both operating businesses and financial institutions added a further dimension to my perspective: an understanding of how companies generate performance and make decisions, complemented by direct insight into how banks assess financial results, risk, liquidity, and funding capacity.
Across these different roles, industries, and organizations, one principle has remained consistent: finance should bring structure to complexity, connect numbers with business reality, and provide management with a clear basis for action.
Today, through FinLab, I bring that experience to entrepreneurs, business owners, and management teams through a flexible engagement model — providing clear financial insight, a structured approach, and practical solutions that support better-informed business decisions.
